SUNNYVALE, Calif. – October 5, 2011 – Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN) today announced that users of networks based on its Mobile Virtual Enterprise (MOVE) architecture would be able to detect and apply policies for the recently-announced Amazon Kindle Fire when the $199 tablet is made available in November 2011.

“The mobile device market is growing exponentially, with devices at price points and form factors for almost anyone available now, and more coming for the holidays,” said Carolina Milanesi, vice president at Gartner Research. “This creates a whole new set of issues around provisioning and security for corporate IT departments, who are being tasked with deploying technical solutions to keep their workers and networks aligned with corporate usage guidelines.”

A recent report from Gartner Research estimates that the sum of unit sales to end users for tablets will grow from 64 million in 2011 to more than 362 million by 2015.1

The new tablet from Amazon builds on the “bring-your-own-device,” or “BYOD,” phenomenon happening in enterprises around the world.  Left unchecked, the millions of mobile devices being taken to work by well-meaning casual users can severely impact both the performance and security of corporate networks.

The Aruba MOVE architecture enables IT managers to automatically identify new mobile devices such as the Kindle Fire as they connect to the network. IT managers are then able to determine whether these devices are approved on their network and apply the appropriate network access policies to govern their use.

“With the launch of the Kindle Fire, we are witnessing the next phase in the explosion of mobile devices entering the market and these devices will inevitably make their way into the enterprise Wi-Fi network,” said Keerti Melkote, CTO and co-founder of Aruba Networks. “The Aruba MOVE architecture ensures that mobile device policies remain aligned with business objectives, regardless of which mobile devices are brought into the workplace.”
